Yes - 3. Teddy (07), Genevieve and Layla (09)

Background
I grew up in a small town in western PA (Meadville). I played youth hockey in a house organization that developed high quality players that went on to play for the high school team. My senior year in high school I was drafted in the NHL by the New Jersey Devils (1994). After high school, I went on to play Division 1 hockey at Cornell University for 4 years (94-98). My sophomore and junior year teams had the privilege of winning the ECAC and Ivy League Championships and played in the NCAA tournament. An injury my senior year at Cornell ended my playing career.

I have coach at Valley for the past 8 years - mite, squirt, and peewee. I'm currently the 07 peewee minor travel coach and an assistant coach for the 09 squirt minor travel team. I take pride in educating myself every year, by utilizing multiple resources, to be the best coach I can be. I feel it is the responsibility of the coach to make hockey fun and develop the kids as players and people.

Goals
I want to help the most qualified coaches coach their teams to the best of their ability. Coaches should be given the freedom to coach their teams without outside interference unless extenuating circumstances arise. If that does occur, thoughtful action should take place. I will be trustworthy, honest and fair in handling all responsibilities. I have no hidden agenda. My goal is to have our organization develop the best players and coaches in central NY.

Yes - Micaela (07 travel) and Mara (IP/MM)

Background
I grew up playing hockey in CNY (for Ithaca and Syracuse Stars). When we moved back to the Syracuse area about 5 years ago, I immediately got involved with VYHA once I signed my kids up to play. I've been part of the board for that entire length of time and feel that I've brought good ideas, an open mind and a collaborative approach to making Valley the best association we can. I've coached, often time assisting multiple teams, each year that I've been here. I was the Mite Coordinator (or co-coordinator) for two years -- and was instrumental in improving the mite group while I was there (to include getting the medium sized mite nets as well as the divider boards). In each position I've served I've been able to make improvements along the way. I would like to continue my service to Valley in the role of Director of Coaches.

Goals
Hockey is a long season -- around 6 months. We entrust our coaches to mentor and lead our children for that period of time, so as the director of coaches it'd be my personal responsibility to ensure we are selecting the best possible role models for our children and that we are providing those coaches the resources required to continue getting better in those roles.

Additional
I appreciate your support in considering me. You have my word that I will take this role on with enthusiasm and respect. I understand how important it is that we have the best coaches in place at Valley and that we continue to develop both the players and coaches alike. Thank you.

2, Will is going to be a 12U PeeWee Major and

Sebastian will be a 10U Squirt Minor in the upcoming season.

Background
I have been a life-long fan of hockey and have been fortunate enough to have played a role at Valley Youth Hockey over the years as an At-Large member of the Board of Directors for 3 seasons as well as Assistant Coaching my son?s Mite team this last season.

By day I am the President of Spirit and Sanzone Distributors, which is a full-service beverage wholesaler for central New York. It is a 4th generation family owned and operated company heading into our 100th year in 2020. I also hold a dual-degree in Entreprenurial Studies and Finance from Babson College as well as an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University. I have banking experience working as a Credit Analyst for Community Bank in New Hampshire for many years prior to returning to Spirit and Sanzone in 2004.

Goals
Having served on the Board for Valley for 3 seasons, I am very aware of how important the Treasurer position is to the organization. The previous Treasurer

Yes - 3. Dom (06), Angie (10), Colum (11)

Background
I started volunteering for youth sports before I had children at the age of 29 in Santa Monica, CA, working with the local Little League in the city.  After moving back home to Syracuse in 2005, I joined the Jamesville Dewitt Little League Board and became Director of Umpires.  While I never played hockey as a child, it has always been my favorite sport and learned to play as an adult.  My sons joined Valley 4 years ago as a first year Squirt and IP and they have been hooked ever since.  I have been an assistant coach and manager on multiple teams for the past three years.  Two years ago I joined the board as Treasurer and watched our organization grow to 27 teams this year.  I have implemented several new strategies to make the registration money be distributed more fairly to all teams while trying to help each team coach/manager be able to manage their team funds efficiently.  As treasurer, I worked closely with Steve Eccles (who manages the daily schedule online) to maintain the proper amount of ice for each team, while also making sure we used as much of the ice we have purchased without wasting any.

Goals
I want to seamlessly transition the Treasurer position to the next in line.  I will work closely with them making the 2019/20 budget and help with the daily duties that the position warrants.  The treasurer and scheduler need to work closely as ice costs are around 55-60% of the budget and the single largest expenditure by far within the organization.  As scheduler, I want to make sure our Ice is used most efficiently and continue our flexible weekend schedule.  To maximize this usage, it takes advanced planning knowing when teams are traveling to make sure teams who are not are using the ice while they are home.  And I will distribute any extra ice as equally as we can to all teams that can utilize it.

I have two kids who play hockey at Valley, Gavin and Dakota. Gavin played on Valley's 2009 travel team in 2018-2019. Dakota played on White Perkins for the 2018-2019 season.

Background
My family has been a part of the Valley organization for the past two seasons, as well as my son played with Valley's IP program when he first started playing. My husband has been a coach with Valley for a few years. This past year, I worked with Coach Blanchard to coordinate the scheduling for all Mites as well as the intermission skate for the Mites at the Crunch Game.

Goals
I would like to work with the current board to ensure that we are focusing on the development of our children in their "hockey careers". I want to ensure that Valley remains one of the top youth hockey programs in Central New York and we continue to ensure our children, parents, and coaches are enjoying their hockey season.

Madigan - 2010
Charlie - 2012
Finn - 2014

Background
I grew up playing youth hockey in the Auburn and have always had a love for the game. Prior to having kids and while living in Boston, I was a youth hockey referee for 3 years. Since moving back to the Syracuse area, we have now had our kids in the program for the past 4 years and we have been very pleased with the experience all three of our kids have had. In that time I have devoted time on the ice with IP/6U helping kids and coaches get their feet underneath them.

Goals
I would like to become more involved to help the Valley program continue to grow and ultimately further progress the development of the kids. I have spent the past 4 years being involved in the Mite level and the number of kids and the amount of talent is inspiring and I would like to continue to see that.
I would be able to provide value from a strategy standpoint, process management, creating efficiencies, as well as ideas around increasing revenues and enhancing marketing and communications.

Additional
I appreciate the opportunity in considering me and I look forward to helping out in any way that I can.

Yes.
Cal 2012
Grady2015

Background
I've been involved with Valley Hockey for two season now. I started with my oldest son in IP/6U last year, and my younger son started this season. This year I coached a Blue Mite Team, and also helped out with IP/6U. I've been thoroughly impressed with the organization thus far and would love to help in whatever capacity I can.

I grew up playing hockey in the Ithaca area where I played for the Ithaca High School team for four years ending with a State Championship my senior year. I went on to Lemoyne College where I played lacrosse, helping the program win their first National Championship my senior year.

I currently reside in Jamesville (due to its proximity to Valley's rinks) with my wife Katie, and sons Cal and Grady.

Goals
As a new parent/coach to the Valley program, I would like to help others new to the program coaches as they start to get their feet wet with the program. As a Blue Mite coach this year I really didn't know what to expect and figured it out as I went. I think I can give a lot of insight to both new mite coaches, as well as those taking part in the IP/6U program. I've learned a lot throughout this year, and I would like to pass that information on to future first year coaches as well as parents.
